The Laga Chestnut
Among the symbolic fruits of the Ascoli Apennines, the Laga Chestnut represents one of the most authentic excellences of the Acquasanta Terme territory.
It grows in the centuries-old chestnut groves that extend on the slopes of the Laga Mountains, among beech woods and springs of pure water, at altitudes between 600 and 1,000 meters.
The cool microclimate, temperature variations and volcanic nature of the soils give this fruit unique characteristics:
-
medium-large size, regular and shiny;
-
thin and easily peelable skin;
-
sweet, light and floury pulp, perfect for any type of processing;
-
intense aroma, with notes of honey and forest.
Hand-picked between late September and November, the Laga Chestnut is carefully selected to guarantee quality, freshness and authenticity.
It is ideal for confectionery processing, the production of chestnut flours and creams, but also for the classic roasted chestnuts, which for generations have accompanied autumn in the valleys of Acquasanta.
More than a product, it is a mountain story: the scent of the woods, the effort of the harvest and the ancient knowledge of the families who still preserve this tradition today.
