The Little Oven of Umito

In the silence of the woods between Umito and the Volpara Waterfall, the Little Oven is a small stone structure that tells the story of those who once lived and worked in these mountains. A communal oven, used by charcoal burners and shepherds to bake bread and warm up during workdays far from the village.

After decades of abandonment, in 2020 it was reconstructed and reactivated thanks to the voluntary work of the Agrarian Communities, becoming a symbol of collective care and memory.
Here, one can breathe the essence of the living mountain: the fire that united people, the stone that protected from the cold, the aroma of bread that told the story of a community capable of regenerating itself over time.
