Matera Acquasanta – Summer Walk in the Chestnut Groves

An easy and evocative trek that starts from the village of Matera, currently under reconstruction, and gently descends to Quintodecimo, an ancient crossroads of the Via Salaria. The route winds through chestnut woods and panoramic views of the Upper Tronto valley, accompanying the walker on a journey that combines nature and memory.

The wounded church of Matera becomes the symbol of an ongoing rebirth, while the small Church of the Bridge of Quintodecimo welcomes at the arrival as a goal of hope and continuity. You can leave your cars in Quintodecimo and Acquasanta to shuttle, avoiding the return via Salaria. If you leave your car in Acquasanta and start from Casaccia, you can take the uphill road that leads to Matera, a gravel path with little or no traffic, about 6 km long.
