Its name appears in documents from the <strong data-start=\"545\" data-end=\"559\">14th century<\/strong>, when the <strong data-start=\"571\" data-end=\"596\">church of Santa Maria<\/strong> was registered in the Ascoli cadastre as the nucleus of aggregation for the first dwellings built in local stone. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"707\" data-end=\"1108\">Pomaro was born as a small rural center connected to the ancient <strong data-start=\"768\" data-end=\"792\">Castrum Montis Acuti<\/strong>, later Montacuto, which in 1289 was sold to the city of Ascoli by the noble Guiderocchi family. The layout of the territory still preserves the scattered arrangement typical of medieval villages, with houses in <strong data-start=\"991\" data-end=\"1023\">travertine (lapis asculanus)<\/strong> and sober yet elegant architecture, marked by carved portals and entrance loggias. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1110\" data-end=\"1454\">The <strong data-start=\"1113\" data-end=\"1138\">church of Santa Maria<\/strong> dominates the lower part of the village (Pomaro basso): inside it houses a <strong data-start=\"1216\" data-end=\"1239\">Christ Pantocrator<\/strong> in travertine and an ancient large <strong data-start=\"1266\" data-end=\"1287\">wooden crucifix<\/strong>. The building, rebuilt several times since the 16th century, is flanked by a portal dated <strong data-start=\"1394\" data-end=\"1402\">1914<\/strong> with a circular opening that illuminates the nave. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1456\" data-end=\"1799\">Continuing upward, one encounters a perfectly preserved <strong data-start=\"1500\" data-end=\"1527\">19th-century tower house<\/strong> and the <strong data-start=\"1551\" data-end=\"1570\">Panichi palace<\/strong> (Pomaro alto), built in the early years of the 19th century as a noble residence. Made of travertine with a symmetrical facade, it recalls the solidity of a fortress and preserves the pride of a lineage that dominated the area for centuries. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1801\" data-end=\"2219\">From the village, the view embraces the <strong data-start=\"1835\" data-end=\"1860\">Fosso Rio Garrafo Valley<\/strong>, up to the <strong data-start=\"1885\" data-end=\"1893\">Laga<\/strong> mountain chain, with sunsets of rare beauty that set fire to the profile of the hills. Today Pomaro lives in a discreet balance between memory and hospitality: accommodation facilities such as <strong data-start=\"2079\" data-end=\"2098\">La Volpe Bianca<\/strong> and <strong data-start=\"2101\" data-end=\"2115\">Il Roccolo<\/strong> have been established here, welcoming hikers and travelers along the routes of the <strong data-start=\"2180\" data-end=\"2216\">Ancient Mule Tracks of Acquasanta<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2221\" data-end=\"2395\">\ud83d\udccd <em data-start=\"2224\" data-end=\"2268\">Pomaro \u2013 Hamlet of Acquasanta Terme (AP)<\/em><br data-start=\"2268\" data-end=\"2271\">\ud83d\udd4d <em data-start=\"2274\" data-end=\"2335\">Altitude: 500 m a.s.l. \u2013 Access from SP70 Acquasanta\u2013Umito<\/em><br data-start=\"2335\" data-end=\"2338\">\ud83d\udeb6\u200d\u2642\ufe0f <em data-start=\"2344\" data-end=\"2393\">Trails: Mule Tracks of Acquasanta \/ GABA Trail<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p><strong data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"30\" data-is-only-node=\"\">Pomaro di Acquasanta Terme<\/strong> is a small stone village at 500 meters altitude, overlooking the Fosso Rio Valley. Born in medieval times around the <strong data-start=\"163\" data-end=\"188\">church of Santa Maria<\/strong>, it preserves travertine portals, a 19th-century tower and the majestic <strong data-start=\"259\" data-end=\"278\">Panichi palace<\/strong>.
