It is entirely built in masonry with a distinctive &#8220;humpback&#8221; shape, and its architectural and construction features are remarkable.<\/p>\n<p>It was the only pedestrian connection between the hamlet of Ponte d&#8217;Arli and the ancient Salaria, witnessing a transit of transportation means such as carriages and stagecoaches. The &#8220;Old Bridge&#8221; was constructed around 1580 by the Comacini Masters, adhering to all the construction standards of arched bridges made of travertine blocks, a construction system used by the Romans for all the bridges on the Via Salaria. Its construction became necessary due to the collapse of the Roman bridge in the Rionile area, following the exceptional flood of the Tronto River in 1570, known as the St. John&#8217;s Flood. Its remains can still be admired today. Beyond its architectural and constructional merit, the &#8220;Old Bridge,&#8221; with its slender shape, creates perfect harmony with the surrounding landscape, highlighting its high environmental value, also in relation to the use of travertine as a typical construction material of the area.    <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>About ten kilometers from the main town of Acquasanta, precisely in Ponte d&#8217;Arli, we find the &#8220;Old Bridge,&#8221; which crosses the Tronto River.
