Its origins are ancient: the first official attestation appears as early as 1052, in a papal bull of Pope Leo IX, and historical research identifies the period of maximum splendor in the 14th century.  The toponym \"Quintodecimo\" derives from the fifteen Roman miles that separate it from Ascoli Piceno, confirmed by a beautiful stretch of Roman wall still visible in the Fonticelle district. In the Middle Ages, the village prospered to the point of producing notaries and knights who appear in the archives of Florence and in Farfa documents, such as the notary Cichus Francisci Rodulfi de Quintodecimo and the knights Giovanni, Paolo, and Antonio Quintodecimo (1419).  In 1377, the town is mentioned in the Statutes of Ascoli as an independent castle, with the obligation to present a silk banner during the feast of Sant'Emidio. In subsequent centuries, its strategic position, on the border between the Papal State and the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, made it the scene of conflicts, particularly during the Risorgimento (1861) and in the painful events of 1948, when the collapse of the amateur theater caused casualties and injuries.  Entering the village, one encounters a dense network of alleys, carved portals, dated lintels, and panoramic views that still today reflect the urban structure faithfully reported in the 1805 cadastre, divided into the districts of Ponte, Forcella, Piazza, and San Giacomo. The Church of SS. Crocifisso, located in the upper part of the town and accessible via a long staircase, is the most representative monument: built in sandstone, it preserves a magnificent portal from 1562, attributed to the same master who worked on the church of San Martino. Inside, it houses a 15th-century wooden crucifix and a cross vault decorated with the four Evangelists from the 16th century. Numerous ex-votos testify to an ancient and deep-rooted devotion.  Also noteworthy are the tower bell, erected in 1884, and the \"palombara,\" one of the oldest buildings in the village, characterized by a splayed travertine window and internal cross vaults, probably remnants of medieval fortifications. Walking through the center, one encounters lintels from 1580, 1654, and 1505, still perfectly legible. Climbing up to the panoramic cross that dominates the town, the view rewards the effort with a complete overview of the entire valley.  Quintodecimo is today a small village, but it preserves a surprising density of history, architecture, and memories, perfectly set in the landscape of the Ascoli Apennines."}
