In the past, it formed almost a single nucleus with Venamartello, located just a few hundred meters away, with which it shared ridge roads, traditions, and rural architecture. The village develops on a sunny slope at approximately 700 meters altitude, in a typical position of small defensive Apennine centers: adjoining sandstone houses, portals made of worked blocks, dated lintels, and a series of alleys overlooking the valley below. Despite being largely uninhabited today, Cocoscia preserves an architectural heritage that reflects its long history as a mountain community. The heart of the village is the church of San Giovanni, a small stone building with a sixteenth-century lintel and a still-functioning bell gable. Inside, a polychrome wooden Madonna del Carmine and a votive drawing depicting the Madonna and Child are preserved. Next to the church stands an ancient palace with coats of arms, double portals, and traces of defensive structures, testimony to the strategic role played by the village in past times.
